Millsmont Real Estate

Millsmont is the area located along the border of the campus of Mills College. This area is next to Maxwell Park, and includes streets off of Macarthur Boulevard and Seminary Avenue. Like much of the rest of Oakland, this area features homes with varying architecture. However the most dominant type of architecture is Mediterranean, Tudor and Craftsman. Some of the recognizable landmarks aside from Mills College is the Hoagie Shop. For decades, Mills Hoagie has been a destination for anyone looking for that authentic Philly style cheese steak hoagie. There are still old articles posted in the window, showing the historical significance of the place. Lord's Ice Cream is also located there, as well as several other restaurants such as Weang Ping Thai.

I have to give a shout out to Weang Peang. Many people have no idea there is an excellent Thai restaraunt right on Macarthur near 63rd avenue. The place has the feel of a bamboo hut in the jungle, you step in and totall feel like you are NOT in Oakland. The food and service is great, and you just can't beat the ambiance.

This is an area with many long term residents. Although there were many foreclosures there in recent years, it remains an area that is sought out for single people and small family's who are typically purchasing their first home. The feel is similar to Maxwell Park, although there is more traffic because of the closer proximity to main streets like Macarthur Boulevard and Seminary Avenue.
